Rules and Regulations
1. In selecting vegetables for exhibition, choose such specimens that would bring the highest price. If at all possible, do not mix varieties.
2. The following factors are generally used by an expert vegetable judge:
a. Trueness to variety type. If at all possible, pick the specimens from variety.
b. Uniformity in shape, size and color.
c. Be sure to pick out a perfect specimen, then select the others as similar to it as
possible. Never mix specimens of different maturity.
d. Protect from dirt, diseases, infection and mechanical damage. Select specimens that
are perfect and show no blemishes of any kind.
e. Condition and maturity. Be sure that exhibits are of high quality.
3. Read premium material carefully, following all rules and regulations. In any instance,
your exhibits will be disqualified if the correct number of specimens is not entered.

Rules and Regulations
1. All products must have been made by the exhibitor. Premiums will not be paid for commercial products.
2. Exhibits must fulfill the requirements of the class in which it is exhibited.
3. No article can compete in more than one entry; that is an article can be judged but once.
4. Exhibits should not bring any article which does not come under a class listed in the premium book.


--SECTION 1 - BAKED PRODUCTS
1. To be judged on appearance, lightness, crumb and flavor.
2. All cakes, pies, and full loaves of bread except grand prize winners, may be picked up
Tuesday after judging, leaving a quarter portion for display.
3. The following definitions should be followed when entering cookies in the various classes:
DROPPED - dough dropped by spoonful onto cookie sheet. BAR - dough spread into
baking pan and cut when cool. MOLDED - dough rolled into a ball; may be pressed with
glass or fork. ROLLED - dough rolled with rolling pin and cut into shapes. PRESSED -
dough formed into shaped with a mechanical cookie press. FILLED - any cookie with a filling.
ICEBOX - dough wrapped in waxed paper; chilled, sliced, and baked.

--SECTION 2 - CANNED OR DRIED PRODUCTS
1. Use only standard clear glass canning jars with lid and ring.
2. Entry of fancy packs of fruits is discouraged since such packs require extra time which
definitely endangers the keeping qualities. Judges will not consider fancy packs as increasing the standards of fruit exhibits.
3. The judges are privileged to open and sample canned goods, if treatment appears necessary in making a decision.
4. Canned foods are judged on the following:
A. The color of the freshly cooked product; even color
B. Clearness - clear liquid, free from bubbles.
C. Texture - no blemishes; firm enough to hold shape.
D. Attractively arranged with best use of space; uniform size pieces; jar full according to
products.
E. Container - suitable size, perfectly sealed and clean

Rules and Regulations
1. All specimens must be grown by the exhibitor AND MUST BE NAMED.
2. House plants must be in possession of the owners and growing in the container for two months.
3. Dish gardens must have been grown together by exhibitors at least six weeks.
4. CLEAN baskets, hangers and containers must be supplied by the exhibitors. Pots are not to exceed 10 inches. Plant shine is not permitted.
5. Only one plant per pot except in collection class.
6. Cut flower’s must conform to the number of blooms, spikes or stem specified in each
class.
7. The uniformity or height, color and size is an important factor in evaluating entries.
Grooming is also very important so disbud and include foliage on flower stem, but not below water line.
8. Flowers in each entry should be of one color and variety unless otherwise stated.
9. Exhibits not removed during the specified time will be discarded.
10. Containers for horticulture must be supplied by exhibitor and should be of clear glass.


Glossary of Terms
1. 3 Blooms - 3 individual flowers on separate stems with foliage attached to stem.
2. Spray – a main stem with side branches and blooms on all sides with attached foliage.
3. Disbudding – the removal of lateral buds along the stem of a flower to promote the development of a large terminal bloom for exhibition purposes.
4. Spike – a lengthened flower cluster in which the flowers are practically stemless. Ex.-
gladiolus
5. Stalk – the stem or axis of a plant, especially a non-woody one.
6. Stem – any main or lateral axis of a plant which develops from a bud, possesses nodes and internodes and bears leaves and buds at the nodes.

--SECTION 3 -AFGHANS AND QUILTS


QUILTING TERMINOLOGY
1. QUILT – an item that is constructed of two layers of cloth, with a filler in between, that is held together by hand or machine quilting.
2. PIECED QUILT – the quilt top is constructed of patches, units, blocks, or other elements joined with seams to make a design.
3. APPLIQUE – pieces of fabric are sewn by hand or machine onto a background fabric.
4. NOVELTYQUILT – a quilt top that is tied or tuffed or tacked and uses an assembly or surface treatment that is less traditional. Examples in this category are yo-yo, cathedral window, tied, crazy, biscuit, photo memories, rag quilts, etc.
5. MIXED TECHNIQUE – two or more techniques are combined. Examples are pieced and
appliquéd, or hand embroidered, or machine embroidered, or heirloom, or trapunto, or stencil, etc. Whole cloth quilts are also included in this category.
6. PIECER – this is the person that makes the quilt top.
7. ORIGINAL DESIGN – the piecer created the design without following or adapting another person’s pattern.

Rules and Regulations
THIS IS A FAM STOCK PULL ONLY! THERE ARE NO CLASSES FOR ALTERED
STOCK ORANYTRACTORS THATARE NOT STOCK.
1. Entry fee of $10.00 per tractor per class.
2. All contestants must be at least 16 years of age.
3. Contest open to all farm owned tractors equipped with rubber tires. All Tires are to be no larger or smaller than one size over or under factory original. No cut tires.
4. This is a FARM STOCK PULL. Any tractor determined by the judges to not fit that description will be disqualified. No debate.
5. Weight includes driver. No weight or driver changes after weigh-in.
6. Drawbar heights, maximum 20 inches from the ground.
7. No dual tires or tire chains will be permitted. Four wheel drive tractors will be permitted to pull if equipped with a front wheel disconnect.
8. Contest to be governed by three judges, with all decisions final.
9. Judges have the right to stop contestant's tractor if the tractor is being operated in an unsafe manner.
10. Only one pull allowed each contestant unless judges declare a tie. Pull is ended when tractor engine stalls or excessive spinning occurs or pulling machine goes out of bounds.
11.All contestants must either be at least 16 years of age or old or possess a safe tractor operating course certificate.
12. All minors must have written consent of parent or guardian to enter contest.
13. Tractors may be rechecked or reweighed at judges discretion.
14. Contest winners to be decided by the total distance pulled.
15. All contestants must pay the regular gate admission
16. No weight changes on scales - one weigh-in per class.
17.Atractor may not pull in more than two (2) classes.
18. Helmet, long sleeves and long pants will be required.
19. All weights must be secureley fastened. Loss of any weights or any other items from tractor while on the track will lead to disqualification. In no case may tractor and weights exceed 9 feet.

--LAWN AND GARDEN TRACTOR PULL

Rules and Regulations
1. All contestants must pay the regular gate admission.
2. Pit gates open at 3:30 PM.
3. Registration will be from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Registration closes at 6:30 PM. Drivers must arrive early, pick their classes and register. No changing of classes will be permitted once the pull begins.
4. Drawbar height, maximum 11 inches from the ground and easily accessible by sled operator, minimum 1 inch hole. Modified and stock class- maximum 13 inches from the ground.
5. Atractor can enter only once in any one class.Any one driver can only enter one tractor in any one class. ANY DRIVER CAN ONLY REGISTER FOR TWO PULLS.
6. An entry fee of $5.00 will be paid for each tractor per class.
7. All drivers in this contest under eighteen years of age must have written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Such affidavit must be in the hands of committee at time of pull.
8. Minimum age of pullers is 7 years old.
9. Helmets and long pants are required for all pullers.
10. Only one pull allowed to each contestant unless a tie is declared. Pull is ended when trator engine stalls or forward motion of tractor stops. No jerking or hole digging is allowed.
11. If tractor or sled touches boundary line during pull, the driver will be disqualified.
12. Drivers must remain in seated position with at least one hand on the steering wheel at all times. No bouncing on the seat allowed.
13. First driver in each class will have the choice of taking his first pull or coming back and pulling third.
14. Drivers may stop within the 25 foot starting line to change gears.
15. If the tractor front raises to a point that the judges feel endangers the driver, worker, or spectators, the judges may stop the pull.
16. Any operator operating in an unsafe manner will be disqualified from the pull.
17. Driver must stop tractor immediately upon signal from judge or official.
18. No dual wheels, tire chains, studded tires, mower decks,ATVtires, four wheel drive or implements will be permitted.
19. Decisions of judges will be final in all cases.All tractors must be inspected before entering contest.
20. Tractor and driver will be weighed together with helmet prior to contest and after each pull if so desired by judges. Judges will also "tach" inspect tractors if they desire.
21. If the front tires of tractor are in the air when flagman flags the tractor indicating the pull is over, and contact with the ground causes and object to be lost, the puller will not be disqualified.
22. Any loss of weights will be a disqualification.
23. All weights must be safely secured to tractor.
24. Front weight bar measured from center of rear axel forward may not exceed 84 inches.
25.All tractors will be classed by judges or officials. All decisions will be final.
26. Any replacement engines cannot be more than one cylinder unless originally from the factory as an option in the lawn stock class.
27. All tractors in the stock and modified classes must have wheelie bars and breakaway
switch.
28. Only the driver and one additional pit or crew member allowed on the track.
29. Unless directed by an official, once you have pulled, you and your tractor will leave the track.
30. Decisions of the judges will be final in all cases.
31.Acopy of the specifications for tractors may be obtained from any committee member.
32. All contestants must watch and obey the directions of the officials.
33. Drivers under the age of 18 must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle the tractor.
34. Once the tractor is hooked to the sled no assistance will be allowed in operating the tractor.
35. Maximum 20 hp engine.
36. DRIVER MUST STAY WITH TRACTOR AT ALL TIMES.
37. Any deliberate violation of these rules will be cause to eject you and your equipment from the grounds and you will forfeit all prizes and trophies.

RULES AND REGULATIONS


1. THIS PULL IS OPEN ONLY TO MEMBERS OF THE BROKENSTRAWANTIQUE
TRACTOR CLUB. CONTACT ALBERTA OONK AT (716) 355-6357 OR AT 645 CLYMER-SHERMAN ROAD, CLYMER, NY 14724 FOR MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION.
MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE ACCEPTED ANYTIME BEFORE THE DATE OF THE PULL.


2. All contestants must pay regular gate admission.
3. An entry fee of $5.00 will be paid for each tractor per class.
4. Open to tractors 1960 and older.
5. Weights of the bolt-on type.Must be securely fastened to the manufacturer intended position. No weight brackets. No suitcase weights. Any lost parts shall be grounds for disqualification.
6. All tractors will be in stock condition as they came from the factory with no pulling enhancing modifications. Stock block and naturally aspirated (exception: tractors originally equipped from the factory with GM two-stroke diesel engines). Stock head, manifold, carburetor, and air cleaner. Replacement manifolds are to be replacement parts accepted for that make and model tractor. Stock engine RPM. Engine parts not in parts book for that specific tractor cannot be used.
7. No racing or aviation gasoline octane booster permitted. Tractors must be dynamometer on the fuel used during the pull.
8. All tires are to be no larger or smaller than one size over or under factory original. No cut tires, radial tires, or chains.
9. Tractors will pull from factory original draw bar, as measured at top of draw bar or at pull point, stationary in all directions, with a 17 inch maximum height and 22 inch minimum length from the center of the axel (6500 # class and under). 20 inch maximum height and 25 inch minimum length (7000# class and over).
10. Factory clevis or shackle may be used, straight or twisted type with a minimum of 2 ½ inch hole, bolted or pinned tightly with spacer to drawbar. Pull plate material will be allowed; material cannot be thinner than ¾ inch and not thicker than 1 ¼ inch. Plate must have a 2 ½ inch hole with a 1 inch material thickness around the hole. The drawbar must remain inside the opening of the clevis.


Any tractor pulling from the NON fixed drawbar (ie. Draft control, 3-point hitch or 2-
point hitch) MUST SECURE THE HITCH IN A LOCKED POSITION. ALL TRACTORS
WITHOUT STATIONARY HITCHES WILL PULL EXHIBITION ONLY. TOP OF
HITCH ADJUSTER CANNOT BEABOVE CENTER LINE OFAXELOR HUB, EXCEPT
FOR FACTORYMOUNTS. (This wording added as per safety committee-7/30/03).


11. All tractors will be checked by tech crew and could be subject to dynamometer and
tachometer testing. All decisions of the tech crew and/or safety committee, and track officials are final.
12. Track officials will stop the pull at any time they feel the tractor or driver is unsafe and/or the front wheels have exceeded a height of 16 inches.
13. No shifting of gears during the pull (including torque amplifiers).
14. Minimum age of driver will be 16. Tech crew will determine if the driver is capable. Driver cannot be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Driver must remain seated. Driver must weigh in tractor and may be subject to be re-weighed after pulling.
15. Participants can be disqualified for being discourteous to other participants or to the officials.
16. Participants will have 3 minutes to get their tractors to the line upon notice of class line up, or the line up committee can disqualify them.
17. Appearance. Only parts in the parts book for that model of tractor are allowed. Seats must be stock or a replacement seat with stock mountings. Replacement alternators or straight exhaust pipes are allowed. Stock side shields allowed if factory equipped. Tractor and wheel weights will be to an acceptable width, not to exceed 8 foot 6 inches.
